COMANGA represents a group of commercially-oriented mango growers in the Brong-Ahafo region, who have adopted GLOBAL Good Agricultural Practices in their mango plantations. COMANGA exists to undertake collective input-output marketing of produce and services for members. We link members to markets and facilitate information flow to members on current trends in the mango industry.
The Mid-Ghana Commercial Mango Growers' Association (COMANGA) represents a unified group of commercially driven mango farmers operating primarily within the Brong-Ahafo and Ashanti regions. Formed in 2008, COMANGA was established by consolidating several smaller district associations. This strategic merger was designed to empower farmers through shared knowledge, specialized agricultural training, and enhanced bargaining power.
Core Operations & Member Support COMANGA exists to transform mango farming from a basic agricultural pursuit into a highly profitable, export-ready enterprise. The association supports its members through several key initiatives:
Collective Marketing & Inputs: By undertaking the collective marketing of both agricultural inputs and the final fruit output, COMANGA lowers production costs for farmers and secures better bulk-market prices for their harvests.
Global Quality Standards: The association is dedicated to helping members adopt and maintain GLOBAL Good Agricultural Practices (Global G.A.P.). This certification is critical for meeting strict international sanitary and phytosanitary standards, thereby opening doors to premium European and global export markets.
Information & Training: COMANGA acts as an information hub, facilitating a constant flow of data regarding current mango industry trends, modern agronomic practices, pest management, and post-harvest handling to minimize losses.
Market Linkages: Operating as a vital intermediary, the association directly links its members to major aggregators, fruit processors, and international exporters.
As an active participant in Ghana's non-traditional export sector and an affiliate of the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), COMANGA continues to play a pivotal role in positioning Ghana as a reliable supplier of high-quality, sustainably grown mangoes on the global stage.
